Yeah, read a lot about them flying off on the forum here. I got my last one on an Ebay auction. I think I paid about $125.00 but it came with an emblem (in all, this the most expensive item I have purchased for the bike). Looks like you will be able to save your emblem. Had to buy an kz900 emblem from z1Enterprises for my other side cover. Another $37.00 plus shipping for a nice reproduction. They have the best prices. I plan drilling a small hole on at least two pegs of each over. Then will use a small spring cotter pin or thin wire. Oh well, better something like this then any other mishap. Glad to hear none of your buddies got hurt from the flying cover.

Joe,
I like the idea of safety wiring it in somehow. They are expensive to replace for sure! The PO lost the bottom mount that supports the bottom tab. I need to get one for sure.
Ed, yes running pods.

Running pods will definitely turn your side covers into little parachutes.

I been usin the hitch clips for yrs, just don't forget they are there when you try to remove the cover. If you kept all the pieces of that side cover there is a way to reassemble them, there is a product called "Plastex" I reinstalled 2 of the tabs on my right side cover with it, and they are stronger then stock.
