camaroguy, Check with your local Department of Motor Vehicles as to the license/title requirement for a rebuilt/salvage title. Requirements vary state to state. If you cannot get a license/title, it is a parts bike. Value accordingly.

Good luck,

Agreed. Here in Wisconsin if it's been titled as salvaged you can keep it on the road no problem, but the resale will be lower.

salvage yards Insurance companies and some auto dealers without dual purpose license in some states are required to auction vehicles in the salvage sale portion of dealer auctions and even though the bike may not be a Quote rebuilt motorcycle. the salvage title will be converted to rebuilt title when licensed

Lets say a guy gets pulled over for DUI and goes to jail and they tow his vehicle. The salvage yard charges rediculous tow bill and storage fees. after a predetermined time they must auction the vehicle through a licensed dealer auction if the owner fails to satisfy the charges imposed against it.

so they apply for a salvage title in turn a dealer or someone with a dealer license buys the vegicle, they have it inspected because it has a salvage title and then apply for a new title either in their name or the customers

since it is road wortthy the state conveerts it to a rebuilt title.

a branded title affects the value as far as book values and collectability values but if your buying a rider for 1000.00 how can you go wrong? Just remember what you have and when the value of that style of bike peaks yours will be worth less

I wouldnt care if the title to my bike said rebuilt or salvage or that it was a schwinn as long as the vin matches the frame and I can relicense it every year

You guys are lucky in the south.
In Ontario Canada, if a bike gets a wrecked/rebuilt/wrote off title, it can never be plated for service on Ontario roads - NEVER again in the whole province, not in Toronto, not in Ottawa, nowhere.

Royaly sucks
