So im still chuggin along on the overhaul of my old KZ650. Last weekend finished the carbs, re-lined the tank with WAKOS tank liner (highly recommend this product) and will start on the motor this weekend. The motor is in working condition now, but it could use some attention.

I am so tempted to just slap everything back together just to get back on the road...... eeehhhhh  but no, I am too anal about my old kawasaki. Its just gotta be perfect or im not happy. Feel like I am angering the bike gods if anything is neglected. And dont say I've got all winter to finsih the project, I ride year round!!!!

So to hold me over I've been thinking to pick up this find on craigslist. Its only got 6,000 miles for $800. Seems like it would be a good reliable fun time. Plastic is rough, but everything else seems to be okay. Any of you guys ever ridden these before? Had any experience with them? Got anything to say? I like the fact that they are kind of old technology air/oil cooled motors from the 80's. I also hear they are fairly reliable, but thats only what i hear.

Dont worry, thats my top priority. I would already be in Ohio to meet you if my truck was still broken. The toyota dealer has had my truck for over a month now and its still not fixed.

Well, I went to see the bike last night. On craigslist it says it has only 5,000 miles, in actuallity it had 23,000. The guy who's selling it doesnt seem too bright at all, and doesnt seem to know anything about the bike. Says he bought it to save money on gas, drives it to his work 2 miles down the road and back, and hasnt put more than 100 miles on it since he's had it. I believe him too because the chain was SO loose that Im sure it would have killed him if he went over 40 MPH on it. I had to adjust it for him so that I could test ride it. The cowl was a mess, lots of missing bolts and poor rattle-can paint job, and there was a rock lodged in the rear brake that had cut a groove into the rotor. But the engine seemed fine, shifted smoothly and had lots of power. I talked him down to $600!!! Going to go pick it up on friday, cant wait. I think i can have it road-worthy in short time.
