What would be reasonable? was created by riverroad
Non running H1. Non stock paint, cheesy bars, highway pegs and sissy bar, but don't look too bad. Had one years ago and wouldn't mind another one. But I heard there's some kind of internal seal that goes bad in these things and they're really hard to change.
So what do you guys think would be a reasonable offer on it?

Those bikes are fetching quite a bit anymore. Years ago I sold my 76 for $600 :(
I would start like on Ebay, low. But not so low as to offend. Maybe $800, and be ready for "Are you Kidding". He may well know he could get $3000 for it.
Problems like the center cylinder roasting a piston, is that bikes heritage. The seals you are referring to would be the Crankshaft seals. There are seals on the crank, between each cylinder. These can be tested, block off plates for the exhaust and intake, with a pressure fitting on one. Then a low pressure pump with a gauge. Add 5psi and watch the gauge. if they leak then the crank has to come out, and rebuilt. I suppose if everything else is good on the crank, you might find replacement seals that are "Split". Then the crank can stay assembled and the seals can be replaced pretty easily.

I always love the line: When these are fixed up they go fer five grand!

That's what some guy said to me when I was looking at a crusty 74 KX250 for sale. Ya, maybe worth that much but takes alot to get there. Dumbass.

Does the bike have a title?

My favorite was always "Not for sale, I'm going to restore that some day"

Right...before or after you cut down the tree growing through the middle of it?
