Hey Kawickrice, I didn't take a sticker last Saturday. So I will try to get one from you Saturday assuming everything goes to plan.

I see a lot of members speculating when the flag will be passing by their area. Especially when the weather starts getting dicey in the Fall. But further in the early stages of this thread it was discussed that the relay will most likely not be possible in one season. I had posted a hypothetical map early on (about 8 months ago) as a basis for discussion and had included some timelines on there as well. Here is the map below, click on it, I have highlighted the timelines in orange. The map assumes each rider has a week to pass it on. But as you can see, this map has probably a third of the riders in comparison to the present number of members. And even with fewer riders involved with a one week hand off it was impossible to make it in one season. So I would think the relay would have to continue in the Spring of '13 from where it stalls in the fall. Just throwing this out for discussion and for some perspective. I know the flag got stalled in Fl, but look at my original map, it is only off by a week in comparison. That's because the relay started even earlier then planned.

In coordinating the East Coast leg, I've resisted putting together any kind of formal timeline. I think it's best to leave it up to the individual riders to work out a schedule that makes sense with each other.

It's really hard to predict when the ride is going to come through any given area. I expect there to be delays, new riders, weather, broken down bikes, etc. We are dealing with a bunch of old bikes after all.

I don't think we should plan on a week per rider. I think it would really be best if riders would group up and ride together. That's what we're doing here in Virginia. It will really speed things up and increase the number of people who can participate if more people are able to do that.

In some cases that can't be done. And in some cases single riders are doing some fairly long hauls. THANK YOU for that.

Permanent and perpetual noob.

No rain gear, Kawickrice. Have always been a fair weather rider not a commuter. Besides, if it really comes down, rain gear doesn't help with 20 yrd visability. Weather changes fast around here, and differs greatly every 100 miles. So lets see what happens. Just showered a bit here today. But only for an hour or so. Which is the norm. And chances are more likely for it to happen latter in the day on Saturday (80% chance of Thunderstorms), I would think. But you are aware of all this, others who don't live here may not.

I just talked to jydog and the flag will be passed on to leg 2 tomorrow at 4:00pm on exit 169 I75 Macon, Georgia. I will be riding 375 miles from Tampa, Florida to Macon Georgia with an 80% chance of rain. Gonna be an interesting ride for sure. KZ900joe will be joining me for a hundred plus miles and turning back, fivestrings blew out a cam end plug today on his shakedown run, if he can fix it by the time I come through he will be joining me for the last hundred plus miles.
