what's a late 78 kz 650sr worth?

I'm looking to buy a what i believe is a 1978 kz 650sr they are asking $1000 and i just want to kno what they are actually worth and if thats a good price it will b my first bike and i believe its all stock

Assuming it runs well it could go for $650 - $3500. Huge range, I know, but as Martin pointed out -with these bikes condition is everything. $650 would be for something that's been cut into a "bobber" or otherwise poorly modified; $3500 would be for a bike in truly pristine condition, well maintained, with extremely low mileage. $1000 is a reasonable price IF the bike is truly stock, runs well, and doesn't need any serious work. Pictures would help a lot here because some folks call a bike "stock" even though they have been basterized from several different models (rattlecan paint, wrong motor, wrong forks, exhaust, etc.). Since it's your 1st bike, I suggest you take someone with considerable experience with you to test drive it and check it out. Ed

the bike does run, but im not sure on the miles though. I also do know the bike was recently painted with in the last 2 years

"may" work to show some variance in the market for bottom of the barrel vs $$$..spend twice that to get em right most times and not too much riding off the bat....but a good shape SR is it's own 650..beefy/mags/triple disk/sturdy body work /thicker seat/ not everyones cup of tea...but a STRONG 650 they were...if it is decent and running man...you could do worse...also the ltd and kz 750 motors (lots turn up in good shape) are not to hrad to run elecs and drop right in....later freshen it up with a good 750 engine for 250??????

anyways...if it is clean title and runs...do it

post a pic and folks can tell you 100% what you should offer/pay

Sometimes a $1,000 bike plus another $1,000 or more in restoration expenses may be brought up almost to par with a pristine example offered for $1,500. :lol:

i dnt have a picture of the bike but this one is pretty much the same thing cause the seat and rear fender has been changed from the sr version. and the one im looking at is blue.

Man, someone got carried away punching those big holes in the brake rotors! They must be expecting a flood! :laugh:

one pic and another bike are two different pole cats..but...if she looks like the picture of her sister....may be worth a date
