oldie but a goodie...mid 70's? Same stunt players as Mad Max/Road warrior?
I remember practicing feet up burn outs and wheelies for ages after first seeing it late 80's.

STONE -- NetFlix says "DVD availability date unknown" which has been the same for a very long time.

The NetFlix synopsis says:
1974 NR
In this classic Aussie counterculture flick, an undercover narc named Stone (Ken Shorter) is dispatched to infiltrate a satanic biker gang after one of its members witnesses a political assassination -- and the killer decides to take out the whole crew. Stone learns to live by a twisted code of honor based on fast riding and fast living but realizes that if his cover gets blown, his fellow riders will be more dangerous than the murderer.

NetFlix includes the following Member Reviews:
10 members reviewed Stone

Stone is unknown in most places outside Australia, and it's a shame it is so. For motorcycle buffs, this is a must see. Great bikes, especially 70's Kawasakis, great riding scenes, and odd, albeit sometimes cheesy characters make this a fun flick. The storyline is somewhat implausible--an outlaw motorcycle club allowing an undercover cop to join its ranks, but some suspension of disbelief will allow you to enjoy the ride. Mad Max fans will see the direct and indirect influences Stone had on Gibson's movies, especially the first two of the Mad Max series, starting with our buddy Toad, who reappears as Toecutter in Mad Max. Motorcycle buffs will like it, Mad Max fans will like it. Motrocycle AND Mad Max fans will love it.

An absolute must-see for fans of biker movies! Inspired by the biker exploitation flicks Hollywood was churning out in the late-60s/ early-70s, Stone is an Australian biker (or “bikie”) movie that really rings true-- primarily because the film was a labor of love made by and for bikies. Because of that, Stone is one of the best motorcycle gang B-movies made, much better than 99% of its American counterparts, with a semi-documentary feeling that keeps things raw and authentic. Forget about the plot-- it’s the flimsiest of excuses to allow the viewer to groove on the exclusive world of the Gravediggers Motorcycle Club-- and unlike US biker films, Stone is very sympathetic to the gang, without emasculating them or turning them into clowns and harmless goofs. (In fact, I’d say Stone has more in common with its fellow Aussie grindhouse masterpiece Mad Max and the English biker/ horror movie Psychomania, than with any of its Yankee equivalents.) While Stone is very docu-like, the movie also has a very strong stoner aesthetic (or “trippy vibe”) that really passes on the feeling that you’re smoking as much dope as the bikers are on-screen (which makes sense since the flick is called “Stone” and the tagline from the poster was “TAKE THE TRIP”). And it’s true: Stone has a great ending. Lots of credit should be heaped on writer/ director/ actor/ designer Sandy Harbutt-- if anyone deserves to be called an auteur, it’s him.

i got so sick of waiting for this to become available i bought it dirt cheap from d..p d..c...t dvd for under $10. What an underatted and meant to be found classic!! Yea Stone is a bit of a poseur but damn if the bikers aint authentic as hell, both in style and attitude. Best ending since fernando di leo's fabulous Avere Vent'anni!!

I learned about this movie after watching Not Quite Hollywood, a documentary about the birth of the Australian film business. If you enjoyed A Decade Under The Influence, I recommend NQH. I went into watching Stone without any expectations other than cheese and plenty of it. I was not disappointed. The acting is bad, film quality not very good, and no self respecting biker would be caught dead on Japanese bikes. The one thing they got right were the brutality of the bike gang and the look of the members. Ive spent time with more than a few actual members of various motorcycle clubs and these guys looked and acted the part. The only thing missing was a heavy involvement in illegal activities to fund their parties. If you think the cast of Sons of Anarchy look too clean and nice, give Stone a viewing.

The recent Aussie film hype-machine NOT QUITE HOLLYWOOD had a lot of good things to say about this 1974 biker flick, which of course came out about 4 years after the rest of the world had given up on bikes as a sign of the counterculture (by 1974, it was VANS, man!). Any buzz generated about STONE now is probably due to the fact that NOT QUITE HOLLYWOOD sampled its two most action-filled scenes - okay, its ONLY two action-filled scenes - the climactic biker beatdown and the huge motorcycle funeral procession, about which Quentin Tarantino gushed like a 13-year-old boy flipping through his first Playboy. That guy can sell us anything, can't he?

Surprisingly good. Funny to see the big bad bikers zooming around on their little Kawasakis--but you can glimpse a Hells Angel on a Panhead during the funeral procession. The Grave Diggers are more like counter-culture hippies than bikers (albeit hippies who like to beat people up). Really cool setting in the bikers' seaside fortress clubhouse. Plot holds together, moreso than most of this genre, and acting and dialogue are similarly competent. Definitely worth a look.

Stone was a very entertaining biker film with a different twist Australian bikers,in the opening there is a shooter who whacks probably just another lying politician giving a speech, in front of crowd, which the bikers are at,a biker looses his head when a wire is strung across the road,Enter Stone cop who is excepted into gang for saving one of them from the murderers, all I will say is Stone if you live by the code ,breaking it will get you broke,Stone should have turned his back walked away and let them have there way, with the murderer .

This movie was awful. Horrible acting, horrible script, lackluster, amateur direction. Pretty lame Aussie imitation of American biker movies that makes films like Werewolves On Wheels or Satan's Sadists look like The Wild One or Easy Rider by way of comparison. How Stone could even merit a 2-Disk collector's edition is beyond me. It's unwatchable!

Totally awesome Aussie biker gang flick that delivers the goods! Features actor Hugh Keays-Byrne as Toad, several years before he played Toecutter in "Mad Max." Lots of great action and one-percenter sleaze. Do not miss!

Things I learned from this movie Sidecars make great hearses. Satanic Funerals are really lame, tho, somewhat loud. Pros use crossbows. A what?!! A CROSS BEW! Scene around the pinball machine with the arrow bolt sticking up at 28 minutes in is priceless. "Being a criminal means being against pigs, and that means strict one jacket one vote democracy. you dig, pig?" Satanic Ear piercing and wardrobe ceremonies are really lame too. why wouldn't david letterman give toad a kiss? Conspiracies can only happen in semi-dark rooms and in large lapel suits. WHAT IS THE LAW!?! Really effective naked swimming and pot smoking scene. Make you really dig the GraveDiggers, man, you dig? awww. toady was frightened of gettin a kickin. I thought the movie should have ended with the blood on the angel, but then I am a satanist. But the blood smear on the phone and Stone's whimpering NO COPS is fantastic too.

Good Fortune! :)

Whats cool to see is that the movie was filmed in 74? So nearly ever bike in the movie is a 73 Z1!
Ive watched in numerous times just for the bikes, the plot kinda sucks.

Yeah, I already understand about the bad acting and crappy story line, kinda like porn, but hey!! It's got KZ's!
I remember a biker flic from a while back that I can only remember one thing about it. That was the part where this biker dude trades his bitch away for a half a pack of cigs.
I laughed my ass off on that one. No alimony and free cigarettes! What could be better?
