Hey everyone im currently in a bit of a jam, i called my local KAWASAKI dealer yesterday only for him to tell me that you could no longer buy parts for my bike, im thinking that he was just to lazy to help me but who knows. If anyone knows of any good parts distributors i would very much appreciate the help. and the bike is a 82 kz 440

The dealerships rarely want to help out with the old bikes.

There is actually many different places with parts for the old girls, but my favorite is: www.z1enterprises.com

Good luck.

I suggest go to Kawasaki.com. On the left side there's a menu - put the cursor on Owners Info and a drop down menu will appear to the right. Click on Parts Diagrams. Pick "Motorcycle and then the year/model of your bike. a "Vehicle Information list will appear - pick Parts Diagrams. You can then navigate through to see the parts diagrams for your specific model. Once you identify the part you need click on the part number in the list below the diagram. If in the block that pops up it says "Item Status Code: Active" the part is still available from Kawasaki. You can then order the part from any dealer (except perhaps the Ahole you mentioned) or you can order from Z1E, RonAyers.com. Speed Supplies, or any number of online parts retailers. Shop around, prices vary. If "Item Status Code: Canceled" appears in the block, none of the dealers or parts retailers will be able to order it even if their website shows a price for the part. In this case you need to shop some of the NOS parts sellers or eBay. Give it a try. Ed

Just a caveat on Kawasaki.com, I needed some parts for the KZ550 that showed "active" and they weren't as the dealer placed the order and then was advised by Kawasaki it wasn't, apparently they are a little slow on updating the system. Still it's 99% most of the time.

One of the two fork bushings if I remember correctly but don't hold me to it as it has been a few years ago.

I replaced the fork seals and both bushings on my KZ550 last month with Kawasaki parts and they were available, unless yours takes a different part number than mine.

First - RE-READ my earlier posting regarding Kawasaki.com parts lookup - then try it. You can see for yourself which parts are available.

Second - Find a Kawasaki dealer who doesn't have his head up his ass. Kawasaki may not be "making parts" for these bikes but there are many many parts still avaialble from Kawasaki for these bikes. If there is no other dealer in your area order from the internet as I had suggested in my previous posting.

Third - for those parts that are not available from Kawasaki there are other sources for new old stock (NOS) parts that are left over from dealer inventories and there are also tons of aftermarket parts (such as cables and such) being made for our bikes.

BTW, do you really mean "new carbs"?
