My CCT is still OE and I have over 60K on one of my bikes. The first thing to go on these things are the coils actually. All three of mine went bad. Also my pulsing coils went out twice and my stater has burned out three times. My water pump seal was replaced twice and so has my radiator. Parts for 1300s can now usually be only found from second hand sources like eBay. I have been hoarding parts for years. Some parts are next to impossible to find, such as rear master cylinder parts. The front Master cylinder parts are available as long as the sleeve is not rusted. However that one can be replaced with a new unit for about $100. Body parts are strictly eBay hunts.

There are quite a few coils that will work but fitting is a problem. This system is an oddity by Kawasaki. It is a 3 Ohm IC ignition. Unlike the others that are 2.2 Ohm The only ones I know of that are REALLY good are Nology PFC-30D and MSD 4573

I already installed a zx-11 cct , I paid 7 bucks for it from a guy on craigslist that wrecked his . It only had like 15k on the clock ,and it looks like a new one . I did that upon taking it out of storage at my father in laws house . I fugured it was time to take this project off the back burner . I love the way this thing sounds .

also as far as ignition , I plan to find two DYNA-S units for the small fours and installinf three pick ups on one plate to make a good quality ignition .. no more hunting an obsolete igniter that goes for 300 bucks at best . I already have one dyna s from my 650 . the backing plate mounts the same way and I have already made all the holes in it to line up the pick ups . so far so good ...

Sorry I couldn't talk last night, but my wife and I don't get to go out much. The Dynna S is only a good replacement for points. It is a substandard ignition to the Kawasaki OE ignition. The KZ1300 ignition is much superior to the Dyna. I have not had a IC module go bad on these yet and it is not a common problem. The pickups go bad but the module is good. The pickups can be used from other KZ plates. I plan on building my own Hi-Performance module out of three GM modules and use the Kawasaki pickup plate to control them. The Coils are the week link in the ignition.

You also have this choice.

www.kz1300.com/parts/pod-filters.html

There is some carburetor modification and some clever pod remolding required but I love these.
