Will stainless steel rust if on an exhaust header?

I know some of you are thinking "is he retarded? it's stainless" I am not retarded, stainless rusts to shit real quick under certain conditions, I am just wondering if high heat is one of them. I blasted and BBQ painted the heat shields on my KLR and want to replace the rusty bolts that hold the shields on with stainless, then shoot some BBQ paint on the bolt heads once they are on to make them black. Anybody tried something like this?

I believe the corrosion will occur with dissimilar metals contacting each other under the right conditions (heat, humidity, etc.). Stainless on stainless should be ok.

No, your stainless wont rust

Your steel should rust in that situation, but since its a big exhaust and a small bolt, the exhaust should be fine, very little potential there.

I've seen plenty of stainless threaded rod rust. I guess it depends on the grade. If I ever build a stainless cable railing again I'll make it a very stupidasole proof part of the contract.
