We've had a number of customers asking what will be the impact on part availability in the near future?

We are not sure yet. I've been in contact with our primary part suppliers in Japan, and fortunately they are out of the damage area. Many of the motorcycle parts suppliers are in the Hyogo/Osaka area - far away from the disaster.

I do know some manufacturers are impacted. Nippon Denso has manufacturing in the area hammered by the quake and tsunami. It will take weeks or months to know for sure the depth of the issue.

If a factory has been destroyed, even if they rebuild, the chances are old tooling will not be remanufactured - so this could have a severe impact if that's the case.

Once we know any tangible impact on parts supply, I'll update this thread.

Thanks Jeff. Never gave that potential problem any thought but it is a valid one to think about. Keep us informed on whatever you find out as you are one of the better places to find these parts and they are getting fewer everyday.

1980 LTD (changed over the years), 1979 LTD (being rebuilt), 1977 KZ turbo and various KZ's in various states of build. KLX110

ive got the sneaking suspicion the demand for z1s and kzs in japan is going to go through the roof once everything else gets straightened out in japan to replace damaged lost collections, its going to be while though till they reach that point in recover process. :(
