Im sure there are a few of you here who watch the show on the History channel called American Pickers. Its 2 guys who travel the country in a van rummaging through peoples junk looking for antiques or anything they can make some cash on. In Alabama they stopped at a man's home and he said he had alot of motorcycles, as they were rummaging through one shed it clearly showed a red 81 or 82 GPZ 1100. They made a short reference about those bikes being fast for their day. They asked the man how much and he asked for $1500. They looked at him like he was crazy and moved on. Personally without seeing any more of the bike i would pay 1500 for it right now if it wasnt so damn far away!!! If anybody is from that area of the country maybe you can find the location and snatch it up for yourself.

If they could turn the motor over, then US$1500 was an appropriate amount to ask for the bike...maybe 'American Pickers' shouldn't be in the motorcycle business...and they are not. I would have bought it on the spot (providing it was complete...bought mine for US$1400 and it was a non-runner and complete).

EDIT...and I don't have cable so I don't watch the show :)

Never met those guys personally, but their shop is right across the river from here. I do know a couple of the "experts" they have on their show helping them from time to time. They have made Le Claire known far and wide. Nice little town. One of these days, I'll have to make the trip and check out their shop just to see what they have in there.

I watched that last night. They passed on the GPZ but ended up buying a 500 triple. It had been outside for what looked like 20 years. Engine locked up, chain rusted solid, no useable parts that I could see. They paid $300 for it and had to drag it out with a tractor.

They don't buy to collect they buy to resell.
So a good deal for one of us is not for them cause they need to make a good profit.
But if I lived in that part of the country and had the extra money would snatch up some of the stuff they didn't.

you do know it is a t.v show, with pre-scripted walk through and special segments all set up to make the rednecks at home chuckle when they get burned ,and that they dont get "burned" they get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to do the show.....i mean you really cant be that stupid right?
