I like to use my motorcycles as a truck. Got some new straps called "ROK straps". Adjustable from 18-54". Come in a pack of 2 for $18.49. Get 4 for large jobs as you can tie them together and basically double the length. Here's carrying home two tires in a box.

I don't have trash pickup at home. Here's carrying a 32gal container to work to empty this morning. Look rather silly, but this is my truck.

Vaguely recalling this one was used for newspaper delivery.
Extra! Extra!
Perhaps the new tires might have been more securely carried by wearing them around your waist, in which event a full helmet with tinted shield is also recommended.
The trash can looks insecure and top heavy. Hope it's a short trip.
Maybe a m/c trailer would be safer and more practical.
There's a pic out there somewhere of a Honda Goldwing commercially used as a "wrecker" for towing disabled automobiles.
Good Fortune!

Actually even if the trash can is top heavy, these straps kept it right where I tied it. Didn't have a bit of problem. Saved having to drive "that stupid truck", which is what I call my other means of transportation.

Take it from me cuz I found
If you leave it then somebody else is bound,
To find that treasure, that moment of pleasure,
When yours, it could have been.

Be careful. I remember this story of how my uncle's friend tied a jacket to his sissybar. Somehow a sleeve got caught in the back tire and produced a sudden unexpected lockup. I imagine a snapped strap would cause the same results. Interesting tho. Almost reminds me of those pictures of whole families and livestock being transported on little bikes.
