motorcycle lift. only on frame or engine ok? was created by Beard
Just wondering..I picked up one of those harbor frieght motorcycle lifts.. im totally satisfied on the stability of it.. but im only lifting a sub 400lb kz650..
my question is:
should i make up some spacer blocks it lift the bike using 4 points on the frame.. or is it ok for the lift to be raising the bike via touching the motor/trans?
didnt know if that puts alot of stress on motor mounts or what
thanks for your opinion

Lifting the bike by the engine is ok, but not recommended for stability, or access.
I would probly make up some wood "shims" to use the fram as lift point and then have access to removing the engine if I like.
Peace.

I have one of the Harbor Freight lifts and usually I just have play with the positioning a bit and can usually find the sweet spot. It actually works pretty well for most tasks

WOW! How did you get it so light? Normal dry weight is around 475 lbs.
