Walneck's Magazine
23 Nov 2010 15:50
I'm curious how many people on the forum read this monthly swap sheet?
Fairly recently the magazine changed owners and the number of pages in each issue has dropped significantly. Given the demise of newspapers, it looks like Walneck's may be on the same path. The most recent issue is under 120 pages compared to around 180 pages a year ago.
The magazine used to be one of the few ways to sell a bike across the USA, but now there's Ebay, craigslist, and other channels - does anyone ever buy from a Walneck's ad?

I have never bought anything out of the magazine, but i do go to the swap meets as often as i can. I know what you mean about the pages dropping, i was shocked when i got the last issue. I like to buy it just to thumb through it, my buddy got a smoking deal on a 1970 honda cb750 with only 1200 miles, he stole it for 300 bucks.

I bought one about 6 months ago when in a c-store to pick up a 6 pack. Most everything in there seemed high end. Read, out of my league. I think the numerous internet outlets are wreaking havoc on the print media in general. The fish just grew legs.

i used to buy it regularly up to a year ago.....there were a few deals here and there, but decent stuff went for good change.....they apparently didnt count on circulation for income as advertising seemed to be the money maker...i did enjoy the old bike reviews though.......

That's just like what happened to Hemmings Motor News.(for you guys that are into cars too) I would venture to say that any business that cannot adapt to having an online presence is doomed.

Ads seemed to be "stale". You would see the same ones over and over. Really enjoyed the old scooter reviews though. Haven't bought one in a year or two.

We'd been advertising in the magazine for a number of years.
I noticed the Walneck's publication getting thinner. Then I stopped seeing it in our local supermarket. So I called to understand what was going on. When I asked about circulation numbers, I couldn't get answers... they refused to provide circulation numbers...

dont they have to provide that info to the public like yearly. I guess if they are privately held, maybe they dont....i dont know:blink:
