There is a guy in Streator, illinois that bought bikes from insurance companies from the 70's to the mid 90's and he has 3 or 4 pole buildings full of bike parts. He has a bunch of kz parts. I got my z1 900 dealer take off stock pipes for 300. Its called Bays Salvage cycle i think. :)

Wow! nothing like those places over here,(Scotland) breakers are becoming a thing off the past thanks to flea bay.
I had a go at a set of 4-4 pipes no e-bay last night for the first time what a joke £255 sterling for a rusty damaged set.
I bet there's a set or two hiding in those yards.

Bays bought a KZ 1300 turbo and a bunch of parts from a friend of mine. Might be worth the trip if they are still open.

I used to live around the corner from that building, and I lived there for 15 years. I drive by it almost every day (even this afternoon, as a matter of fact) and I have never seen any bikes there. Maybe it's new, and indoors?

I wonder what the deal is. I'll probably drive past there in the next couple days. I'll let you know if I see anything.

I used to go to Milwaukee Cycle Salvage on the north-west side of Milwaukee. Sometimes I would just call them and they would ship what I needed.

They always had what I needed. They have a huge indoor warehouse and outdoor yard filled with bikes. Their prices were a little high though.

Small world it is. I lived about 3 blocks from Milwaukee Cycle Salvage. I traded with them a long time ago but then when I got my KZ about 9 years ago I had a less than stellar experience with them and never went back. And yes, their prices were outrageous.
