Parts Availability was created by 1bigkzfan
My biggest concern about buying a 30+ year old bike is the availability of parts. I currently am looking for a 900 or 1000 between 73 & 78 as I like the old school kz's before the new square tank look came around in the early 80's. I used to have many connections for parts through the network of guy's I raced with at Moroso on weekends in West Palm Bch. Fla. I've heard and been warned that parts are scarce but I also know that a project is only limited by one's network of friends and others that still love these bikes. Just looking for some backup and encouragement to keep me pumped up to buy and restore my next bike.

Lot's of other sites too. I think someone here has a whole list of links to online parts sources for these bikes.

Welcome.
These bikes are some of the easiest bikes to get parts for. There are many places that have aftermarket, Performance, upgrade, and reproduction parts for these bikes. You will not have any problem finding parts or people who work on them. By the way, the angular tanks came out in 1978 on the KZ1000 Z1R.

Welcome aboard. Like Otakar said, availability is rarely a problem with the 900-1100 bikes. More likely is a wallet problem, especially if you are planing a modified bike. Take a look at the vendor list button above to see a tiny tip of the iceberg.
