He paid $175 for it. $5000 is only a 6 billion percent profit. A 1973 Z1 junk is not worth that. Oh wait 10/72 makes it a 1972. That makes a huge difference. If it was made 11/72 not worth nothin, but 10/72 makes it a gem.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Yeah, but it is a pretty crappy gem...still overpriced...perhaps $2000-3000 for that low series. The only things salvageable are the frame and motor...all else is junk.

Does a low serial number REALLY make that much price difference? The wife's 650 LTD is number 00140, and runs.

IF it's a 1972 Z1, then yes it does. ;)

1974 900 Z1 modified to look like a LTD , some engine mods. But I still have all the original parts.

if i had a 73 z-1 in the 30,000's(which i do)and it was cherry(which it is not even together) but if it was decent...say 5000 worth in general...and i put the bikes stuff on a low number like that...and restored iot....would i be in the hunt for a 15000 z....or if i was big money....would i then have the bragging rights to special z???

maybe then it is worth 5000 to the seller because he knows it's rareness......B)

Auction has ended, 1 bid @ $5500....

Anyone want to bet on a Dr Pepper that the buyer backs out and this goes on auction again?....

Seriously, it would cost you another $5K plus to restore and without engine stamp numer, who knows... I guess at total restore you'd find someone will to cash out $10K plus...

Hell, you'd have to ask closer to $15K or what, no profit... naw.... maybe in Japan or elsewhere but I can;t see this pricing at all....

But hey, WTF do I know....
