Now Patton, we all know that this is definitely a Photo Chop for thew following reasons...

* I would never paint it blue.
* It would be either a buffed aluminum box...
* It would be painted with Dupli-Color... :S

Hey KCGuy, When I got my first ’81 LTD 1000, I went through a series of clutch cables in a short period of time. My mechanic would have to order a new one for me so after the second one I told him to order two and paid him for them both so I would always have one on the shelf, (I lived close to his shop).

After the third one snapped at the nub, we looked at the lever and used a Dremel with a small grinding bit to, slightly, enlarge the hole and then slightly beveled all the 90 degree edges of the openings in the clutch lever. Then put in plenty of grease. Over the years I always made a point of inspecting, cleaning and lubing the cable/lever and never had the problem again. But I still took an extra cable with me on long trips.

I was snapping cables twice a season until I found the correct way to install it. It is all in the placement of the slits on the lever adjusters. Since Motion Pro explained to me where the slits are supposed to be my cables have been lasting me for over four years now. And I don't even lube them. I did the same thing, I bought four extra and now they will be sitting on my shelf for the rest of my life. If you tell us what the bike is I most likely have one.

Imo should be kept positioned with slit opening directed downward and toward the rear, to help avoid water from rain or washing from getting inside the cable sheath.

And of course with adjuster slit not aligned with the slit in the perch. When riding in the rain, such alignment would force feed water into the cable sheath.

Good Fortune! :)
