...My riding buds always bust my nads about all the tools I carry on a ride... That is until they have an issue on their rides and need one of my tools... It just kills them to ask for they know what it will cost them... :evil: And yes, I tear them up royally....

After the third one snapped at the nub, we looked at the lever and used a Dremel with a small grinding bit to, slightly, enlarge the hole and then slightly beveled all the 90 degree edges of the openings in the clutch lever. Then put in plenty of grease. Over the years I always made a point of inspecting, cleaning and lubing the cable/lever and never had the problem again. But I still took an extra cable with me on long trips.

It is all in the placement of the slits on the lever adjusters.

Imo should be kept positioned with slit opening directed downward and toward the rear, to help avoid water from rain or washing from getting inside the cable sheath.
And of course with adjuster slit not aligned with the slit in the perch. When riding in the rain, such alignment would force feed water into the cable sheath.
