I have a lot an interest and respect for the bozosoku from the 70's, but today's bozosoku are nothing more than annoying in my opinion. Just loud obnoxious teenagers. I wish i could have been here in the 70's.

Oh yeah. Bososozku are more comical these days, if not downright pathetic. I understand some current gangs ride scooters with powerful sound systems blasting recorded exhaust notes of bigger bikes. Too funny...

At least back then, both the "racing" and the "fighting" bosozoku gangs rode hard and fast through the night.

Also, here in the Kanto area, old farts like me are going through a midlife crisis. The interesting thing is, instead of a hottie or a sports cars, they are buying up bikes from the 70's and 80's, decking them out in full bosozoku regalia and taking to the streets in an attempt to recapture youth. Also too funny...

datsun 510??? gs450es...they would munch starters....i hope you got a haircut...things go full circle..looks like my nephews today.....nice picture

Yes and no regarding the car. It is a JDM Nissan Bluebird. Earlier Bluebirds were marketed in the US as the Datsun 510, but the late 70's Bluebirds (like the one in the pic) were sold as Datsun 810s.

The JDM GSX400E had a different engine from the US model GS450E, I had no problems with the starter.

Yes, I got a haircut when I joined the Navy. These days, Mother Nature cuts my hair. :-(

there were a few guys coming up to san luis obispo in late 80's from japan buying bikes...one guy was a fish broker and if remember right his name was Awai,
he was buying bikes in conjunction with a guy who ran big four vintage wanted adds by the name of Tad,i believe...ever here of these guys....they ran adds in the back of cycle news weeky....i sold him a bone stock 73 root beer and orange for 900 in 87(belonged to friend) and while he was up i dumped about a half a garage of extra z stuff for i think 6 or 700...then he got a free unpapered telescoping fork early model honda 450 twin for a gift(he was way stoaked on that bike)...and bought a yellow commando 750 on his way outta town....

He sent me a few letters from japan that a friend helped him write.......with pictures of a garage full of complete or near complete 73's and tanks and stuff to make more all laying around.....and some really cool japanese home market mags that felt like phone books next to my cycle worlds.....i was drooling over the elr's and 400 models....it was an eye opener for a 21 yr old...to see vfr 400's and whole shops of roadrace literbikes from the 70-80's...i had no idea it was big there too...

He spoke no english and i spoke no japanese...his buddy who drove the van knew like 5 words....but he was super cool and dug my yoshimura tagged wayne gardner looking stripped down Z1R......we went to lunch and had beers and neither one could say shit to the other....but we knew about kz's so all went smooth...anyhow...cool pics...that's my japanese biker story
