Ebay numbers... was created by Bluemeanie
I check out KZ and KZ650 parts on ebay all the time, never know when that "special" part will come along. Over the years KZ parts have been up around 1000 and KZ650 parts have hovered around 300-400 parts. Now all of a sudden (within the last few months) KZ650 parts are up around 4,300 and KZ parts are at 19,500!! What's going on? Just curious on what you guys think it is?

1980 KZ650F1, Bought new out the door for $2,162.98!

No branier Blue... Big $$$$ in the parts game...

In the past, ppl where thinking old KZ, worth some bucks. Fix them up and re-sell... Downfall to this concept was it's not cheap pending conditions, how much it was going to cost to fix her up, what was needed in experience and time... Then they only made marginal profit...

Then they figured out, part the old girl out brought in larger profits with little effort...

Example: Buy a POS KZ for $500...
Remove the 28mm carbs and sell them for $350 plus.
Remove the motor, $350 plus...
Your already ahead...

Now start selling the electrics, cable harness, speedo/tach, forks, frame etc... Your now way ahead on your initial investment...

Example 2... Have a bud out of Vegas... Bought a wrecked zx636 for $500. Sold the undamaged engine alone for $1k. Still parting out the rest... So for that $500 investment, he'll make $2k or so....

All in all... there's big $$$ in parting out bikes.

No matter how common the KZ series was, eventually (sooner than later) complete, running bikes will not be available at near the numbers they currently are. Hold onto your complete bikes, boys and girls...not that they will ever be worth big bucks...they will just be hard to find.
