kz750 twin? was created by tlewis
I have the chance to pick up a very clean 79 kz750 twin pretty cheap. I know nothing about these bikes. What should i look for? I know the brakes r bad and it leaks gas. Son i got carbs and a brake job. what's a fair price for this model?

At the risk of being trite...the 'cheaper the better' is a nice motto. That said, the 750 twins have not appreciated in value like their sister 4 bangers have. So, you should be able to pick up a running, nicely restored KZ750 twin for less than US$2000. I seem to recall seeing some 750 twins that have been highly over-valued...and they usually don't sell. Figure that you'll have to pump several hundred dollars into the bike to make it roadworthy and negotiate accordingly.
You might also post this same question on kz750twins.com/ It is a forum run by a fellow 'named' Biquetoast who is knowledgeable and has been helpful.

Depending on the mileage I'd say $850 to $1,100.
I have a 79 B4. Just had it repainted back to original specs.
The starter clutches are weak. I just disabled mine and use the kick start.
Good Luck
