Advice, KZ650 engine in dune buggy? was created by degerovita
In my quest for a engine for my single person dunebuggy, I came across a wrecked KZ650. I believe its a 1978 but that's not confirmed. I have done some research which has led me here. I've gathered the KZ700 twin is a bullet proof work horse, and a lot of guys here have kz650's. Do they have the same reputation? Also what should I be looking for before I go out and purchase this bike? The fuel was left on so I am assuming the carb bowls are going to be varnished, The engine case looks to be free of cracks and oil leaks. I do not have a compression tester, and the motor turns over fine with the kick start. What else? Its cheap enough that I can use misc parts off of it and sell/scrap the rest and break even, but would rather drop my money into something usable. Thanks
