Lancaster, CA has a street fair every year. Last summer, a group of Monguls showed up at one or our seedier motels, and planned to visit the fair the next day. LA county deputies found out about it (I think the motel manager called them), and the Monguls were told to move on. They got a lawyer, and I think the suit is still somewhere in the courts.
I'd say that the Monguls got their constitutional rights stepped on. But, the city wants a nice family event that people will come to every year. If you ride with an "outlaw" club, and proudly display your 1% patch, you may expect to be denied access to some of society's more "wholesome" activities. Just my opinion.

I don't see how 1st ammendment could be stretched to apply there.

Even if an event is in a public venue that doesn't make it a Government event. 1st ammendment was clearly intended to protect the right to express in public or private, Political opinions without fear of reprisal by Government entities.

Even if you go to a DNC or RNC convention which would much more closely be considered "governmental", if you go and harrass or threaten the other people there you will end up kicked out or even in jail with no hope in court for a 1st ammendment defence.

When a group of privately owned companies even in conjunction with a municipality want to invite the public to their party, it's their party, their rules.

The bikers should have been countersued for harrassment.

Now from reading the article it does not say these bikers were outlaws. They could have just been a couple of bike clubs that went for a ride. I agree though they dont have a leg to stand on. fairs rules are their rules.

now this is what i see wrong here, if a guy belongs to an m.c. hes a gang member? i guess thats what i am then.

if you carry a gun illegally and deal drugs and the majority of your harley riding friends do also, yep, you,re a motorcycle gang member....

if you ride with some guys who might have done a small stretch for dwi and non payment of child support, dont deal, but maybe hit the pipe occasionally and dont carry a gun illegally.....well, thats just a club....

And if you dress so as the average person can't tell the difference, you deserve the thanks you get. ;)

I was set up as vendor, (sterling silver jewelry) at 'The Broken Spoke' during the 2006 Bike Week in Myrtle Beach, SC and saw the security people stop a group of the 'Red Knights' and give them the option of removing their club colors or leaving the premises. They left.
The 'Red Knights' is a motorcycle club of Firefighters.
They were not happy about it, but the policy is no 'colors' and they enforced it for everyone.

The 2 "biker bars" I frequent (Daniels & Cancun Cantina) both have NO COLORS rules. I know CC wouldn't let the "American Legion Riders" wear their colors to events.
