I may be wrong but other than the new Triumph Thunderbird (1600cc) they have not had a parallel twin for a long time? On Sunday I went for a ride up in the hills to the local bike hang out (Look Out point on the Ortega Highway) I came across this heavily modified Triumph. Absolutly beautiful bike! Profesionally done front to rear and I believe an old model brought up to current specs. Is it an older Triump? Stunning bike for sure and would have loved to take it for a spin!

its a late model bike looks like they modified a 900 thruxton they have been building twins again now for about the last 8 years or so pretty much everything else they build are triples. i have worked for a couple of triumph dealerships over the years they build a pretty cool bike even if they are a bit different then every body else. in fact i worked for the original triumph dealership in canada in 1994.

I was at the local honda/harley dealership looking at helmets over the holidays, and the only bike I sat on was a used thruxton. It really was a nice bike! Has anybody sat on one of these triumphs for a few hours? I have sat on a few over the years, and they all seem to have seats made from planks of oak. Do they soften up?

Yes that is definitely a modded up Thruxton & I would guess that the seat is pretty hard.
I still rate the Triumph triples very highly and I think that the introduction of the 1600cc Thunderbird twin is a bit of a disappointment- built for the US market but it doesn't distinguish itself much from a lot of other makes- still a fairly cool bike though.
I have just bought another Triumph Thunderbird Sport as they are a great bike to ride, sought after big time in the UK and the used price seems to be increasing steadily.
