If it actually has 5 or 6 gears, not the 4 it says in the ad, and/or top gear is not broken, and I can talk him down some more and insurance will be as cheap as I hope I think I may use this as my commuter and fart around bike. Looks like it needs a head gasket, but otherwise it looks good, for an ugly 80's maxim. Anybody ever own one of these?

looks good and for the price it's awesome you could ride the wheels off it and still sell it for way more than you paid for it. i'd go for it just to have it around as a spare bike or a pit bike. those 400 twins weren't real power houses

I figured it looks nice, and comes with receipts the manual, tool kit etc. all the things you want in an old bike. If insurance will be less than 500 bones, and the tranny is ok as I mentioned I think I will get it. I am not looking for a fast or cool bike, I want something cheap, and cheap on gas and something I won't need to work on. With 35000 km's I can put another 35000 on it and save the kz for longer trips or for when I don't want to look like a chump. The only real issue I may have is that I am 6'5" 270 pounds...I plan on loosing another 20 pounds, but It will still be funny with me on it...but a 750 or something a little more substantial will cost me an arm and a leg to insure, and I still will dwarf it...in this case I think go small or go home fits the bill!

haha, ok well forget about me getting this bike, just talked to my insurance broker, 862$ to insure this bike...my 1000 is only 200 bucks more. I don't want to bend over and touch my toes again, especially for a scooter!

$862? So....you some sort of serial accident perpetrator? Cousin of Evil Kenevil? Ben "Crash" Sullivan the human cannonball? I'd say get some more quotes if your record is good. GLuck!

I'm in Canada...insurance here is expensive. They won't give me anything but liability on a bike this old. Some companies will but it will cost me more. I have a clean driving record too, I got in a major accident in June, my court date is in january, so I am thinking my insurance will skyrocket after...I may not be able to afford to ride for 5 years...I'm hoping it won't come to that.

My KZ costs me more than my truck or my car, and my insurance has stayed put for the past year, most companies have hiked by 20%.
