A Couple of KZ650 Questions was created by Kawickrice
I will be doing a frame swap and was wondering what is a good gear ratio for highway cruzing with a passenger, something that will not rev to the high heavens at cruzing speeds but also will not cause me to burn up the clutch leaving a stoplight with a passenger. Also I have a set of what I believe is a Jardine 4 into 2 exhaust. What jetting should I start with that will get me in the right direction? It has pods the Jardine exhaust and will have the dyna ignition and coils. Do I consider the Jardine exhaust stock for jetting, or do I consider it like a 4 into 1 for jetting? I am also in the need for a round master cylinder and a headlight bucket with the trim rings for a 77 KZ650 B-1

Stock will work fine.

You will have to work through the jetting. Bolt it up and read the plugs.

It has the stock ratio I think. It seems to rev high doing 70 MPH, I would like to get the RPM's down a little at 70 MPH

Does the exhaust have baffles or no? If it's got baffles and pods I'd start with 17.5 pilots, needles on the #4 (from top) clip, and 112.5 mains. If its got no baffles bump the main up to a 115.

If you want to lower rpms at cruising speed try going to a 40 tooth rear sprocket. Losing the 2 teeth should put you right about where you want to be I'm thinking.
