not really, still inline 4,chain drive still fun and still fast ,pretty cool how little they have actually changed when you think of it. still makes mothers nervous and young girls itchy. and both of them still get my heart racing.

Yes it's really sickening how things have changed for the most part. Sure the new motorcycles run great, I'll admit that, but they're not ever going to be classics like the old Z1. Some of the new ones are growing on me though. I'm thinking enduro and the KLR650 looks good with 43hp which is probably more than enough, but I got my eye on the KTM 990 Adventure. At 106hp that would be fun as an enduro. "Only" $15,000 bucks though, I'll probably get shot by the wife if I even look at one.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

I love both of the bikes!!! at the kawasaki test rides i rode the z1000 (one of my favorite new bikes after the zrx). It was fast, agile, and alot of fun. Seemed to sit really high and forward though. The zx-14 felt like a damn goldwing it was so big, but felt very light for its size. Both were fast enough to get me in trouble real quick

I don't know, when I think about the following lines I use on my girfriends (a girlfriend just now is any gal over 18 who'll get on the bike.)

(1) "Hold on, this bike is FAST -- but it is OLD, you never know what's gonna happen with a 30-year old bike!"

versus:

(2) "Hold on, this bike is fast...and...brand new and safe with excellent brakes, handling, and driveability and passenger comfort."

SHE'S HOLDING ON TIGHTER FOR (1) THERE.

The two bikes, or the mothers and young girls?

You can only be young once, but you can be immature forever!

you may not like a KLR, i didn't. owned one for about four days. my two biggest concerns - underpowered, and develops a concerning weave about 75-80 mph. plus that bike has a few mechanical shortcomings i discovered while prowling around on a few KLR specific websites. its also done top speed wise around 85ish. hell, you can't even get away from a soccer mom in her 250hp crossover texting her friends, loading in the dvd for the rug rats, getting directions on her gps, and doing everything else but watching you on your bike.

True, but you can turn off the road and take the backroad/trail home, and we all know that SUV's and crossovers are pavement princesses

Kill me if you must, it may be faster, but that new red bike looks like it was designed by a Federal Gov't committee using parts from 6 different models. The KZ flows from front to back as a piece of sculpture. Take a minute and compare the beauty of the KZ tank to the humpty-dumpty red tank. I can't believe anyone would prefer the red one. ed
