I found this description of riding a classic bake compared to newer bikes on the triples forum.

"What you really need to look at is not speed but EXCITEMENT!

You have to ride a modern bike really fast to get the adrenaline fix. The feeling you get when you climb off a bike an feel glad to be still alive. because the bike is actually doing everything you ask it to do. it's too easy. so you need speed to get this dice with death feeling.

On an old bike, and not just a Kawasaki. you get the adrenaline fix at a much lower speed. Because the bike doesn't do what you ask, It makes you feel scared at a much lower speed. And you have to admit, riding a classic bike, that doesn't handle, doesn't stop, and has more than enough power to tie itself in knots leaves you getting off after an hard ride, with just that feeling. Glad to be still in one piece!

Kawasaki triples just do it better than most"

haha, no but my buddy has a nice 1970 2 door delta 88 with a 455. It floats like it was on a cloud at 100mph, and accelerates from 100mph just as fast as it does from a stop. not real fast, but has enough torque to pull a house down. heres a pic of his car, oh ya and thats his dads ride in the yellow B)

Hmmm...

This is not good. I got a H-D because I thought I would kill myself on my Z-1.

I would have to agree that riding one of the old beasts is much more gratifing. The flex frame, antique brakes and every thing else keeps you on your toes. The newer bikes have thier place too, but there is more than top speed for my thrills.

I am a younger guy 30. I ride these old bikes for several reasons....

1) Easy to fix
2) Not overly expensive to repair (knock on wood)
3) A lot of ways to set them up (I like the cafe look)
4) Fun to work on and mod to your taste (distance from a grumpy GF)
5) Fast enough for me...120MPH no sweat
6) People always interested in the bike (not like all the other indistinguishable bikes of today)
7) Girls love them.
8) Girls love them. (did I say that twice?)

I have riden newer bikes, but the feel of the road is all too finessed for me. Like it was stated above, the nature of the bike itself gives you your fix...the rush that we are still in one piece.

Haha I love that statement, so true. I'm 18 and enjoyed a CBR I got to ride for a short time... But it was no comparison to my KZ.

I love my KZ because...

1) More comfortable than a sportbike

2) Can keep up with most 600cc sportbikes

3) More seasoned riders give me a little more respect than when rode the CBR haha

4) Get looks everywhere cause its a classic

5) Chicks love it :P
