engine id was created by enaz1
looking to buy my seconded kaw,a 1000 this time. how do you tell by engine id if its a 1000,vers,a900 or 1100.

It is cast into the block. For example, a block that says .903L is a 900, one that says .998L is a 1000, et cetera.

As you face the motor, look on the left lower front of the cylinder block...

check the serial # on pad next to oil fill to help narrow it down closer B)

on the 77-80 series motors,on j series its 998
