Ugh... went down today...

Was on a back road with my brother riding ahead of me. He went into a turn a bit too fast (both of us underestimated it), and I braked in a lean to avoid rear-ending him, locked the brakes a bit and skidded sideways. After a second or two of wobbling front end, I low-sided and slid about 30 feet. Destroyed my fairing, tore up my grip, brake lever, and throttle tube, almost tore off the right rear signal, dinged the tank and fender, and bent the foot peg. Thank God the case guard did its job. I'll have to replace that too. Mostly cosmetic stuff, and certainly could have been a lot worse. I rode away with a scraped up knee and a bruised hip. very depressing.

PS- If anybody has these parts (case guards or the R/S peg especially) for a '74 Z1, let me know! :blush:

at least youre not down...you ll find the parts.....

yeah.....you are here to tell about it.....bikes come and go....glad your o.k....get some rest and don't sweat it....it'll be better after it's fixed...good luck

Man, I'm sorry to hear this, but glad you came out without any major injury.

I might have some parts for ya. I need to pull my Z1 parts bin down and check.

Thanks for your kind words, all. Thankfully I respond well to aspirin. My knee is just starting to feel good again, though the giant scab isn't too pretty.
