Kawasaki Z2 750 in Hiding was created by Kawickrice
I know where there is a Kawasaki Z2 750 and I am trying to strike a deal. The bike is a complete runner. It has been painted and has a 4into1 header on it. The bike is not for sale but he will sell her to me. What would be a reasonable price to offer him for it. The guy is a tightwad so I know it will not be cheap so to say. I talked to him again today about it and would love to have it. I will try to arrange to get some pics of the old girl. What would you pay for a Z2?

Being such a rare girl over here it's all down to what he wants, what you are willing to pay and what you can hash out. But unless he is a dolt I would guess ya are gonna be digging deep. Since his buyers list is so small I guess he knows what he has. PICS!!!

I saw a piece of crap Z2 sell for $2500.00 at ohio.

I also saw one sell several years ago that had been restored with original exhaust for $3500.00. Both went to the mother land. Roy

First...let me point you at an English language Z2 site ( www.freewebs.com/750rs/index.htm ). This site will enable you to figure out which Z2 or Z750 you might be looking at. The site owner (John Brookes) is very knowledgeable and very helpful. I encourage you to contact him with any questions. Z2's in North America are problematic as virtually no one knows what they are...parts/part numbers cannot be easily accessed and few folks know how to value them. Most that have sold in North America have been a virtual steal. Note Roy's comments...recent sales returned to the 'Motherland'...e.g. Japan. In Japan, the bike is highly sought after and resurrected/restored Z2's can bring between US10,000 and US$20,000. That same bike will never realize that in North America. I picked mine up about 1.5 years ago from a fellow Texan who was not sure what he had but he knew it was weird. I have been slowly accumulating bits and pieces and as soon as I sell another bike or two, I'll dive into the restoration. To be open, I paid US$1000 for the bike...it had been repainted, needed a new seat, has the wrong pipes, and various aftermarket parts, but it is fairly complete...turns over and has compression. If it had been a 1975 Z1B...it would have been a steal for a US$1000...as it is, it is a 1975 Z2A so I figure I did all right...I now own an exceptionally rare bike that will take a fair amount of money to restore...log onto the above site and do some reading... and acquire a piece of Kawasaki history :)

After doing some searching I found the site you refer to, I also saw a pic of your bike (McDroid) The bike That I am looking at I have seen 7 or 8 times with the last time being over 2 years ago. From what I can remember it has a king/queen seat aftermarket exhaust and was painted black. That is all I remember about details. I do remember it drawing my attention every time I was near it. (Yes its a sickness) Every time I see it I want it even more. I was thinking he would take $2500.00 from what I can remember from our previous conversations. I think alot of the parts are Z1 parts other than the motor pieces, am I correct on this. I am thinking if I can get it I would keep it and have a piece of history. With them being relativly rare in the US that to me makes it more attractive. I paid $250 for my Z1 in the 80's with no idea that it would be a collectable one day, back then they were plentiful. If the exporters drool for bikes like this I would like to be a thorn in thier side and keep it in the US. I am not thinking turn a profit and sell, I just think I would enjoy owning the old girl. I do not know the year but I remember looking at the tank as far as the way the Z1 tank differs from the KZ tank on the seams and it was the Z1 style (no lip underneath that can be seen) I will try to get some pics but I don't want him knowing how interested I am and jack the price on me.

I have a friend in Houston that has one that is stock. It was built for the Japanese market and every thing wrote on the bike is Japanese. It has a big red light near the guages that lights up when you get up to (i think)55 mph.

I'll try and get him to post a pic of it. It is green.

I rode it and being a 750 it doesn't take off like a rocket and seemed to be geared high.

Also the guy that bought the Z2 in Ohio was japanese and he was riding a Z1 street fighter that he had spent $17,000 on for the conversion.

They were in a big R.V. that had room for bike storage and didn't seem to be hurting for money.

I have his bikes on Video but not didital.:S Roy

Hello Roy...that is Dave's bike, right? If so, then he has several photos of the bike posted on the Z2 site I listed above.

Yeah, I was talking about Dave. I really need to see him. I haven't been down to visit in about four years.

Has he got a pic of me on the bike with the blonde neighbor that use to live next door that was a stripper?;)

We had some good times hangin out.

I liked it when he moved to the storage area to work as i could park my 18 wheeler there.

Has he still got all those bikes in the storage building? Roy

Despite the fact I live on the southern side of the Houston megaplex (he's on the northern fringe), I have not heard from him or about him in several years... shame on me.

I used to park my bike at a old truck stop on Sawmill of sawdust road. There is a sports bar behind there that would be a good place to hook up if you were out riding.

I need to give him a call. Roy

P.S. No blonde pictures.:(

Keep us posted on whether or not you acquire this bike...do you know if the current owner has it listed with the Z2 site?
