The pic pretty much tells it all. Glad I keep a spare under the seat.

I'll bet you had to adjust that cable a few times recently. That's how I can tell when mine are close to breaking, when clutch cable needs frequent adjustment normally the cable is beginning to look like yours. Even then as goofy as it sounds, I rarely replace a cable before it snaps. You had a few more pulls there available before it needed replaced

It makes you think twice about guys you see sitting at a red light at a busy intersection revving the engine up with the tranny in gear and the clutch pulled in. It could be just one or two thin strands that is all that's keeping them from wheeling into cross traffic. :woohoo: Ed

Yeah Ron this is the first one I've changed before it broke. It was killing me to change it early.

Right on !
I carry a spare clutch and a spare throttle cable. They are an easy fit under the seat. No fun being stranded and trying to rig something.
Been there, done that

Rode mine to work today cause it's really nice outside. Noticed that it was creeping at a light and then it died. Then when restarting the starter was making the bike jump. Got it started and made last few miles to work without hitting a light and rarely shifting.

Figured I needed to adjust it, but when I looked, the thing is holding on by a total of two strands.

All dealerships are closed today but I went to an independent shop and got a new cable. get back to the parking lot and see that the two phillips screws holding the little cover on left side of the engine are slightly stripped and I manage to strip them worse.

Now I'll have to leave my bike here tonight I guess. I'm an idiot for not paying more attention to the maintenance.
