- To do what is right is to know what you want.
But, we're interested in having a communication system and until we can work out a good flag system, i think a two way radio + headset is the best way to go.
Has any of y'all used any of these?
If so, what do you use?
And to anyone who saw my post above, yes i plan to fully put my bike thru the ropes before taking on such a long trip.

Prices are also very reasonable - and include the headset! However, the Bluetooth dongle for the iPod was expensive (over $40) and I had to install a new battery in my iPod to get any life out of it! However, I now get over 5 hours of life from the iPod with the Bluetooth running - and I haven't run the battry out on the XBi yet!
Sound quality is good enough although sometimes the volume is marginal - it depends on the recording volume and is usually fine - I typically run it at half volume and can hear it at all speeds. The helmet mounted unit is light, and I do not notice it is there. Installation was a piece of cake as the lining on my Scorpion helmet is removable - but I did have to replace the Velcro they supply with a larger, more industrial strength type to give some flexibility in the mounting positions, and to get it to stick! Positioning of the earphones is critical!

Also, i've found a few solutions which are fairly cheap to communicate with the person on my back seat, but we're going to take a trip on two bikes and i want bike to bike talking.
I think i'm gonna end up getting a walkie talkie and a wind-resistant headset (we both have full face helmets, but still) with a push to talk i can put at an easily accessible location. Its just tough to find some user reviews on items like that.

I have a set of Audiovox walkie talkies with voice activation. They worked marginal at best. They're the second set I've tried thinking the first set(motorola I believe)was just a bad set from the factory.
I doubt I would buy another set.
Same here, but with Chatterbox. And with open face helmet was virtually impossible, even with push-to-talk, unless behind a Vetter Windjammer fairing.
Also hated the clunky clip-on helmet box, and extra wiring involved, sometimes fogotten and snatched loose when dismounting.
Fell in love with hand signals all over again.
YMMV.
Good Luck!

This is the system I chose because it offers total integration but there are less expensive setups available as well.
