I'm a bit confused on what you are terming 'S' models. The red one pictured is a 1978 KZ1000A2 model. Haven't seen the '79 yet. Parts are readily available for the KZ1100A and KZ1000A2 models...it all comes down to personal preferences.

Thank you for the info as I know nothing about the KZ's and your comments have been very helpful.
The red '78 is advertised as a '79. Not confident about a guy that doesn't know what year his bike is.
I'm off to look at another '78 and also the '81 above. When I stated "S" above, I meant Sport. Maybe I have this wrong.
Thanks again.

Here is the picture of the blue '81
Can't tell from pic whether it's chain or shaft final drive.
Thinking oem front fender was painted to match bike, and this has non-oem chrome front fender.
Regarding the red bike, perhaps an '78 engine in '79 frame.
Good Luck!

Only issue I noticed was the rear end is a little harsh even on the lightest spring settings. Could be from lack of use. New rear shocks are in the future.
Thanks for all the advice guys!

For whatever reason, the lower shock mounts are not located in the oem position, and are more rearward whereby the shocks are laid down more.
Here's a pic for comparison in oem mount position, forward of rear axle.
Good Luck!

Thank you for the picture and observation. Another member pointed out that this has lowering links. I'm going to put the shocks back to the OEM position as you suggested.
