Be careful...the Z1000 was dropped from the 2009 lineup and dealers may be foisting off left-over 2008's.
That would make sense, every website that has the 2009 advertised says 2008 when you get to the description. What is the problem with them?? I thought it would be cool to have the 79' KZ1000 and then also have the 09' Z1000... This sux...

Kawasaki has a long track record of poor marketing decisions (IMO) in North America...they have not failed to disappoint again by dropping the Z1000.

Kawasaki should have kept it more retro but instead went a little to Transformerish for me. Maybe with a little work it could be cleaned up?
Nicely said, couldn't agree more

Had the Z1000 looked more like a KZ1000 I think it would have sold like wildfire, but it seems that they're definitely scared of marketing their own history from 30 years ago. Sad, really, when one considers they're trying to trade off of H-D's and Indian's history and are moderately successful at it. But admit that a KZ ever existed? Ah, hell, we can't do that.

Exactly! I'm sure there are many who would rather have a KZ1000 style bike with modern power, brakes, etc. then another "insect" bike. Retro can be cool if done well - like the recent Ford Mustang.
