1997 kawasaki ex250 ninja im fixing

Well my neighbor brought me his 1997 kawasaki ex250 ninja, because it is leaking oil from the left side stator cover because the gaskets bad, and he also wants me to clean out his carbs. Im more than capable of the work, i just dont know how much to charge him? Any of you guys have an idea whai s should charge to do it? Thanks, jim.

half shop rate if your doing it at home if the local shop charges 80.00 an hour charge 40.00 thats what he would pay if he was taking it to a shop shop half that is not out of line. and make sure he get's the parts so that you don't mess up your relationship with the local shop for the future. remember you may need there help someday.

and one other thing charge him realisticlly if it takes you 2 hours honestly charge two hours if you screw something up and it takes an extra 5 hours for example dont charge that charge him for the time it should have taken.that way you will have a happy customer.if you make him happy with your work he might tell a couple of buddies about you but if you piss him off he will tell every body.

ya, i wouldnt purpously screw a client over, i hope he does tell his friends about me because it is always good to have a steady cash flow coming threw the door.

I'd order the parts online. That way he doesn't chat up the parts counter at the local dealer about how his friend is fixing his bike.

Well i started working on it today..........what a PIA this is going to be.....lol. For starters somebody tried to do the Creme tratment in the tank and messed up bad but i think it will be ok. The gas cap was a PIA to get open also but a little wd-40 on it and its fine now. I tried to fire it over to no avail. So i drained the oil and i think it had to be at least 90% gas.......it pissed out like water. I also drained the coolant because that didnt look that good either. The carbs are in horrible shape, the jets are clogged,and a bunch of crap in the bowls, i think the diaphrams are torn a bit, and so on. This is going to be a pain to do i can tell ya that....lol. Im going to snap a few pics of it now and post pics in a few.

Its a clean bike over all and it just turned 14,000 miles. Here is the left side.
