Think I found my next bike was created by franknsr
I went out yesterday to pick up something I found on craigslist and the guy had a complete non running 82 750-S sitting under the front eave of his house. I snapped a picture and he said he'd take 500-600 for it. I mentioned KZR and it turns out he's on here as wkmpt. The bike is in our classifieds;
kzrider.com/index.php?option=com_marketp...&adid=3023&Itemid=46 .
So what do you guys think a fair condition non running 82 750 worth?
It needs carb holders, or whatever they are called. Anyone know if they are still available? Expensive?
Thanks for any advice.

Well, I paid $650 for my KZ750-R1 (that is an R1 model, BTW) and it was running and I rode it home 30 miles. It was cosmetically rough, like that example, but everything worked. I haven't done much with it since I bought it, but I have been actively acquiring parts...the big problem being, when I finish it, and it presumably looks and runs great, it still won't be worth more than $2000 or so...if I can find the right buyer. Offer him US$500, tops. Be prepared to pump in a fair amount of money to get it looking nice.

Around here that would be a $250 bike but I don't know what the market is like in your area. Right off the bat I see a bike that has sat with the carbs off (see classified pic) and wires disconnected. You can plan on spending at least $400 right away with tires, carb kits, battery and all the other little things that will be needed. Then you will need to paint it and get the engine looking half way decent again. Fully restored it would be a $4000 bike but it would cost you $4000 to get it to that point. As a nice daily rider it should fetch around $1600 so I think $300 would be the most I could pay.

Last summer I paid $700 for a rough looking but running 83 KZ750 L3. I tore the carbs out and went through the carbs right away, new carb holders and airbox to carb hoses, throttle and clutch cables.
It runs okay now but still needs fork seals replaced, and nice paint job.
Hope this helps,
Grant

Depends on how much you want it. If you really really want it then spending the extra few dollars to give him his asking price isn't a problem but if its just a money making idea you can most likely forget about it...
As context, it took me about $700 (in addition to the original purchase price) to get my fairly nice Xl600 that was running well from this

to this

and most people probably wouldn't notice the difference
