MK2, what should I do was created by T_Dub
Ok, a 78 MkII KZ100 just came up for sale today in my city for $1900. Should I put the 650 mods on hold and get this gem? I'd be stripping off that ugly fairing and those saddlebags immediately.

I guess that depends on your goals for a ride. it would give u more power right away than the 650 ever could at any $.

Man its soo tempting, but what do I do with a 650 in pieces? What a dilemma.

HMMMM, MKll vs. 650. Stock paint, a bunch of windjammer style stuff to sell, stock exhaust and doesn't look too bad in the pic. MKll freak that I am I'd drop the 650 like a stone and be all over that...

BTW, Mkll's were 1979 models, date of manufacture on neck may show 1978 and that's how it got titled - see that all the time.

Yeah my 650's titled as a 76 lol.

I reaaaaaly want it, but I already have a bunch of parts built up for the 650, oh well, I'm gonna have to think long and hard about this over the next couple days.

I fell in love with the MKII first one I saw in 1979. I've ridden a lot of MKII miles and more KZ650 miles. Some comparison of the two, all subjective and my own opinion.
MKII is a lot heavier, makes for a great road bike, but I always prefered the 650 for short rides, riding around town ect.
MKII vibrates a lot more than a KZ650.
Parts for MKII are all getting expensive and hard to get. You won't find MKII in junk yards where thousands of KZ650s are resting.
MKII is the best looking motorcycle ever, so that clenched it for me, but I'll keep the 650s too.

I was going to say build the 650, but after seeing Ron's bike in sunlight, I can understand your dilemma.

Are you kidding!!!? I noticed you didn't mention anything about that camel seat. lol Were you planning on riding it like that?
Listen! This is a no brainer. Buy that bike! If not share the information with us. Someone would more than happy to make a quick decision on this site. If you pass please post the information. I would bike this bike today only because I have been looking for a MKII since I saw my friend's bike. No point in thinking about it. You have this other bike in pieces and can always fix it up albeit a later time but this bike is pretty rare and once fixed up could fetch a pretty penny. Your bike OTH can be as nice but will be no where near the worth ever IMO. Don't get me wrong I like 650's but this is a real bike in my mind.
Or hesitate and tomorrow that bike will be all but history guaranteed. Don't be a woman on this one or you won't have a choice and will regret it later.;)

The acessories on the MarkII will really help off set the price of the bike if you don't want it.

I feel your pain. Every time i buy a bike it seems a week later there is a bike for sale that i just got to have.

Ask my wife.:) Roy

I looked at the of that bike with that funny seat, backrest, saddlebags, windshield and thought - egads, who would want it? THEN I looked at the picture of Ron's bike and thought - egads, what are you waiting for? Ron, your bike is stunning!! Ed

I don't think the pipes are stock after all. Compare the stock system.
