I know! Down south if your bike don't look like a Hardly it Aint got no appeal and how are you supposed to make time with your sister if she don't think you ride a real man's bike? Gosh dang it!
Hopefully this will be good for someone to get on the cheap as long as he hasn't permanently messed things up.

I'd like to see more pictures, but that doesn't look like a bad custom job at all. I guess I'm just not a purist, I appreciate well done custom builds maybe more than a pristine example of a stocker. Now, if it was some hack job that destroyed the bike I'd find flaw with it too, but this looks to be pretty well done and nothing hacked up to the point that it couldn't be put back to stock if someone desired.
I'm not really a purist either and I appreciate a nice, well done custom bike. However this moron took a pretty rare bike (5000 units produced one year only) that on a normal day would fetch around 3 grand and turned it into a pile of crap that is going to be lucky to hit 2 grand.
I guess in this day and age I just don't understand why you would expend the effort working on a bike, only to make it worth less than when you started. With the amount of info available to you on the net, before you start hacking away with your sawzall or grinder it is always a good idea to determine what you have first. For the look he was after he would have been better off finding a cop bike which is not really rare and chop away on that. This bike has been hacked beyond the point of bringing it back, the entire rear of the frame is gone so this hillbilly could install his Harley look alike rear fender. Just a real shame this was an iconic bike when it came out.

OOPS! Take that back. I see he hacked the rear subframe off. Bummer, this. I guess the only decent solution would be to make it a cafe style. Or, even better, graft the steering head onto a non-titled frame, like several of us happen to have lying around...

Sounds like it's missing on at least one, and the throttle response is atrocious. Actually, it sounds just like my cousins old Honda 350.
