Here's a few things you can use in your garage to help work on the bike.

1) IV Stand - these are great for hanging auxillary fuel tanks, carb stix, test meters and more. They come with a heavy weighted base on wheels that roll easily. The curly hooks on the top allow an easy and secure way of hooking things onto them. Plus, they are height adjustable. You can often find them for sale for as little as $5-1$10 each.

2) Sheet pizza trays. Great for putting under bikes, stashing parts on when rebuilding engines, etc. They are sturdy and have a good lip on to contain oil and the like. You can usually find them for $5-$10 each.

3) Freeze plugs. Automotive rubber expanding freeze plugs (core plugs in some countries). These are useful to put into holes where you need to either plug the hole, or to bolt a temporary retaining bracket to something. If you are repainting a gas tank, use a freeze plug in the gas cap hole. Use a couple of 1 1/8" plugs on a bar to fabricate a carb holding tool. I have a selection of different sizes in the tool box.

solvent tanks[parts washer] coffee cans i like the folgers type plastic and you don't cut your hands on them great for parts cleaning or keeping your junk parts collection in. small floor jacks for lifting the bike when your doing tire changes, going on with the coffee theme a coffee maker for coffe so you don't have to go in the house and also for heating bearings so it is easier to install them and by the same token a fridge for your pepsi's or for freezing bearings before you install them in housings or wheels. and don't forget the tunes must have tunes. also a combo belt sander disc sander for finishing of those trick alloy brackets and mounts a guy builds from time to time and a good quality bead breaker for tire changes.

Astroglide "personal lubricant." Specially formulated to make things slippery without destroying latex. Good for rubber carb boots, etc.

Just make sure you have a separate bottle dedicated to garage use. Nothing like a grease smeared bottle to "destroy the mood.":P

Disposable, aluminum, roasting trays are great as drip catchers. I also have paper shop towels (the blue ones) in a towel holder on the wall - great for one-handed ripping a sheet off!

ZipLoc bags (with a space for writing) are great for labelling/storing engine parts both dirty and clean. I label a bag accordingly, then drop the parts in during disassembly. Then I clean parts a bag-at-a-time, put the parts back in the (wiped out) bag and store them in a cardboard box!
