Hi Grumpy,

Pretty sure that if you had a vacuum leak you could hear the bike wouldn't run.

Course then you couldn't hear it. So that can't be the problem.

You could just get some new exhaust gaskets and re-hang the exhaust. I hear if you cherry red them and quick quench them they will pop back as good as new. Never did it as they are pretty cheap but that would allow you to check the exhaust flanges and maybe clean up the exhaust if it needs it.

okay ...here is a stupid guess...if i think i have an exhaust leak....i do....and that is about 100% so far for me.... i usually take a extension and a wobble and a small ratchet set up and hand re-check each nut,,,,or as has been already said re do the gskts....in the process you may find a piece askew in the clamps that is appearing
as a whisper getting by..... is not hearable at speed......good luck....oh can i have your bike please...pretty please

I would imagine you could use a burning punk to see if you have an exhaust leak.

why would you only hear an exhuast leak when its rolling?put the bike on its center stand and have somebody play with the throttle a little with the bike in neutral then grab an old piece of garden hose put one end to your ear and hold the other end up to differant parts of motor to see if you hear anything strange in that rpm range.dont leave bike running too long without airflow over motor that get a little tempermental.B)

Still recovering, some days are better than others.

Appreciate the help guys. Unfortunately, I am now on the road for the week and can't mess with my project. Wife says I've had a new girlfriend the past 4 months. I have!
