So, as long as my K-bikes out-number the entire rest of my collection I'm thinking I'm as green-blooded of a die-hard Kawasaki-guy as any Vulcan in the galaxy.
Growing up you get "those" bikes stuck in your head and you remember them in a special place in your brain. When I was a college-kid the fastest guy in Topeka had a GS1150ES that looked like this one...only it was pretty bad. He and I are still friends and see each other a couple times a year and I remember the antics he would pull with that thing...and it made me want one. I have NEVER even ridden one, and in my life I've ridden pretty much most all the bikes on the planet...but never an 1150 and I'm looking forward to this thing. I'm expecting about 105 to 110 ponies and some vibration ... past that I'm hoping the 17s will transform the handling the way it has on my 'J' and that the vibration isn't too annoying. If it's too much of a pig, or it feels like a Milwaukee velocipede you can find the parts strewn across eBay...with the possible exception of the motor  and since this is a Kaw-site I'll keep my plans for the motor under wraps ... (Katana!!!)
PLUS: C'mon man, 200 bones??? You'd pop that ... I KNOW you would!
Anywho, this thing is second to the GPz750 getting done, so I probably won't turn tread on it until sometime closer to June...we'll see.
McDroid: You did check out the other sled in the last pic ... didn't you? Although it's a 900 there is an 1100F motor going in ... not soon, though.
Locozuna: Yes sir, that weird-ass fairing must stay! ...weird bike, weird fairing, weird owner...yup, that works.

T-Laguna: yeah, I've heard a lot of 'quirky' issues about stock 1150s, Es and ESs...we'll see if the 17s are the cure. The boys in Streetfighter say it is, and the guys over at Customfighters.com all claim that it's "the fix"...again, we'll see, eh?
Again, complements, insults, feedback, suggestions, and questions are all welcome.

my 82 gs1100e handled like freighttrain in the corners,i think most of it was the stock rake on those bikes was setup with dragracing in mind.i lowered the frontend and left the assend where it was which helped the cornering i also disabled the anti-dive frontend which helped the braking a lot.mine had 17"wheels on it stock.
Ha! Yeah buddy, I've ridden plenty of GS1100s and you hit it on the head with the 'float-like-a-freighttrain' analogy! Still a totally lovable bike though, eh! I'm going to say that your bike had a 17" wheel on the rear that was stock...the front I'm going to keep my mouth shut about.
I always wondered what the handling solution would be with one of those things, yeah the rake really leaned towards a drag-bike in the making; and yeah, the anti-dive is "poo".

who cares about handling issues it has one of the finest air cooled motorcycle engines ever built they rock if i could find one it would definitly find a home in my shop. i'd make room.
See? That's what I'm talkin' about...in my mind, there's just something about the old pig. Holy-shite that thing takes up a big piece of real-estate in my garage...and I hate to get all 'Harley' about it, but the thing has a bit of personality and the ride will dictate if it indeed has a 'soul' quality.
