Back in 1979 when I first saw that MKII I knew that was the greatest motorcycle ever. Being a 18 yr old kid I had the new KZ650 but lusted for the MKII but alas only one motorcycle for a 18 yr old. Got the new 82 GPZ1100 which I'd say still rates in the top 10 of all time, but needed that MKII, then in 1983 found mine, brand new with 500 miles on it for $2000. I snatched that up and sold the 24,000 mile GPZ for $2500, so I get my dream bike + $500. All these years and motorcycles, I've yet to surpass the MKII for my dream. I've dreamed the current crap, the V45 Honda=JUNK, the Yamaha FZ and FZR bikes=nice but no cigar, the Yamaha FJ1200=JUNK. BMW R series=JUNK, Kawasaki concours=junk. Got the KZ1000ST that competes pretty favorably with the MKII. I'd have to say the MKII still for me after all these years. Yes a S1 Eddie Lawson would be the bike, but not your everyday purchase. I've got my 2008 Goldwing too and it's one heck of a boat. Great too. :)

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

ronkz650 and others have touched on it already......all time favorite bike as in even unobtainium...???or all time favorite bike that i've ridden on or owned?????

if it was me talikng to a non-bike person and that question was asked
kawasaki 900 the old school ones....as in any year model of the older big fours from 73-83,but stated as a old school kawi four liter bike to cover the bases...
and that would go for just about the whole question from anyone...ricky racer...some 23 yr old gxr kid...or a old motorcyclist of another brand......

but when i was 19 i got to sit on this bike one night in a barn..........it was sooooooooooooooooo beautiful....all dark ruby lipstick red and decals..and hand made engine and covers and exhuast...it was not a kawi...but it was an ama champion,a pops yoshimura superbike, built by pops himself,it was the only one in the world left from that yoshimura that season,it was wes cooleys,it was just on the cover of cycle world that month back then......
It is my favorite bike ever ,hands down,...i have not seen a real s-1 ...nor do i wish to....it would make me feel bad to not partake........my moment sitting on pops/wes's bike happened on accident and is frozen in time for me.....so it will always be a 19 yr old boy staring at his dream bike.....even when i'm eighty....i will still be standing there the same...

Of bikes I have owned - it has to be the KZ although I often wish I could have my 1959 Triumph 5TA Speed Twin back! However, my guess is that even if I had it, I would still prefer the KZ.

My recently aquired W650 is growing on me. It has clubman bars and a cafe-racerish seat so on Saturday I installed bar-end mirrors courtesy of Z1! It is now looking very cafe-racer which seems to get it a lot of looks. I bet a lot of folks think it is an old Triumph though!

If I had my choice of bikes - an Arial Square-Four might be on the cards... but then again, there is always that Vincent...

For looks 1946 Knucklehead. Crusing V-Max. All around fun to ride the Z1/KZ. Being out of bikes for a few years I will tell you this, I have never gotten more attention than I have reciently with my KZ 900. I can't go to a gas station without someone coming up and talking and yesterday I stopped Young's Dairy in Yellow Springs Ohio www.youngsdairy.com/ to relieve myself and get a cup of coffee. I come out and 7 people are around my bike talking about it and old times. It was a pleasure to see that both young and old seem to understand the history and evoloution of the sport bike...Russ
