My Z-1 is reserved for nice sunny days. I like taking it out into the countryside. I'm too afraid of it getting stolen :( to spend the night somewhere other than home.

My riding style is fairly conservative. My go fast days are over, although if you put me on a nice winding road I do have a habit of turning the wick up. I guess you never get too old for that.;)

For bad weather rides or extended trips, I have another bike that I ride.

i drag race so it is obvious that i like speed and acceleration but i also like to jump on my 74 and just go i like to put lots of miles on that one and every time i come back from two weeks on the road i always tell my self never again but evry year i seem to get that itch again, when i'm playing around in town tho it seems as if i only have two throttle positions fully open or fully closed so i have to be carefull.

BTW, l0g1c, who's doing your carb work in Beatrice?

Just a buddy of mine named Ben. He's not a wrench for any shops or anything, just a guy who's probably owned more CB350's than I have fingers.

I spent most of last summer reworking various things on my kz. I had not ridden in 20+ years and bought it just to make sure I really wanted another bike (before spending the bucks for a new one). Since then I find excuses to make short trips anywhere just to ride. Friday I am off work and I ride just to ride all day long. It is not uncommon to fill the tank 3 times during the day. Weather permitting i rdie to work. Living just south of Knoxville I ride the mountain roads alot. And anytime I get the chance I love to show all those new twins what a KZ can do. Would love to do road trips but would hate to sit and wait for 2-3 days for a part. In another couple of months I think my confidence level will be up to that.
In short (LOL) I have no style; I ride because I love it.
I ride, all laid back, to and from work. I cruise the back roads just for pleasure. I smoke the harleys on the hiways jujust because it's fun.

I do like to use the bike for commuting/shopping/whatever in the summer. Adding the "W" means I can ride that more - and keep the miles off the KZ but I suspect weekend rides, evening rides to the pub, and shows will put plenty of miles on her anyway!

I do love curvy country roads - which are scarce around here, but my years of "earoleing" (work that one out) around corners are behind me. As for those V-twins, I just let 'em pass and catch 'em at the next bend!

I'm like you OMR. Too many nutcases out there talking and TEXTING on their damn CELL PHONES! Unfrigginbelievable! I've had more near-misses from these stupid drivers than any other single cause.
As far as riding style, even though our bike (SR650) isn't really a touring type we still use it mostly for that purpose. We added a rack, saddlebags, windshild and a more comfortable seat. I would prefer a Harley or Yamaha Venture for this purpose but the 'ol SR 650 still gets us by for now. We bought the bike for $1200 in 2005 with 5820 miles on it and have added another 30K miles on it in the last 3 seasons, mostly touring Michigan and the Lakes. It is adequete for that purpose, reliable and not too-high-maintenance.
I also ride it to work sometimes too if I can but my job is less than 10 miles so it hardly even warms up.

I'm a road racer at heart, I hate taking corners without my knee out and my butt off the seat.

Most of my riding is commuting to work. My style is whatever it needs to be. In bad weather I take it easy, in town I don't screw around much. Othe open road I love the twisties and usually have to back off when something starts scraping. And I'll second the beautiful sound of a kerker singing "Go Baby, Go!" B)

If I knew what I was doing all the time life wouldn't be any fun.
