good luck

I agree the black needs to go. It does start very easy. And does a nice burn out, the rear tire is pretty bald, I was thinking the PO was doing lots of burnouts from the looks of the tire so I just couldn't resist.B)

After seeing those pics someone got a little carried away with the paint. Nothing is chromed now. Thanks for the link.

The G model has the same BS34 carbs as all the rest of the GS1100 models but is jetted a shade different. The BS34 carbs on a Suz have no vacuum fittings on the carb bodies except for the #2 carb for the petcock vacuum. You sync using screws in the carb holders. You screw out the screws and screw in adapters.

I am pretty sure that the 83 GS1100 family used the same 2 valve engine... the valves are a bit bigger than used on a KZ of the same vintage and some racers back in the day would put the bigger 2 valve GS heads on their KZs. They bolt right on as this engine is a copy of the KZ engine. There is some horsepower loss in a shaft drive but they don't lose enough to make a great difference on the street. The shaft also adds weight.

If you can work on a KZ, the GS has almost identical mechanical characteristics and is far easier to work on than Hondas of the same era as the cylinder head can come off with the engine in the bike.

If someone can confirm about the cylinder head, it would be appreciated. I had a TSCC 82 GS1100E a couple years ago and I am ALMOST sure it was a 2 valve engine but I am getting old and my memory ain't great.
