One of the final acts of the Republicans was to embargo the under 500cc 2 wheel vehicles from Europe to punish them over not allowing our beef exports. Whatcha think scooter dealers think of this piece of brilliant governing? There are dealers who will go out of business over this foolishness. Think about it... Harley is hurting right now due to slow sales. Are we going to be riding 700cc metrics in the near future?

Whatcha think the Ranchers, feedlot operators and meat packers think about their exports being blocked?

Let's get back to the real issue. Is the Consumer Product Safety Commission using the lead issue to achieve something they couldn't get passed otherwise. Specifically, are they trying to make designing, selling, operating and owning motorcycles to, for and by children illegal?

IMO, some of the scariest words in the English language are: "I'm from the government, and I'm here to "help" you"

I work for the Feds, have been for more than 30yrs. I'm not a suit/bureaucrat, but someone (IMO) that may actually generate some new bio-tech, other than shuffling papers and going to meetings. I remember Carter and 4-5% annual raises, I remember2-3% raises under Reagan, Bush, even Clinton, and BushII. I even remember the "solidity" of a Fed job, under Kennedy and LBJ. Under Barry I'm expecting it to go back up to 4-5+%. I wouldn't doubt that Barry/Nancy/Harry may even get that 20% Private/Gov differential that has been kicking around for 20yrs, put through. I'm under the old Civil Service Retirement System, a legacy of FDR Big Gov. I can retire and sit on my butt and get a minimum of 55% of the average of my high 3 yrs salary, plus 2%/yr for every extra year I "work" and full cost of living raises, which in most parts of the US is comfortable. I've got the same health insurance, in perpetuity, as Congress. Hell, to be honest, since I've hit my magic #, my bosses don't seem to care if I put out my previous productivity. I've never served in the armed forces but I can join any Officers Club on any base, I want to, which really pisses my brother off, since he was a grunt in Nam. If you haven't guessed already, I figure Barry and the Socialist agenda is going to be very very good to me. About the only people that's gonna benefit are Fed employees, Union bigwigs, "Community Action Organizations" and those private companies, that will "service" the Feds, I feel sorry for everyone else.
Sorry if my honest opinion offends anyone but I'm hoping it might make some of y'all, that are all for National Socialism, to maybe think about it.

I'm gonna paraphrase, I believe Farrakhan or maybe Malcolm X, in referring to LBJ's "Great Society".
"They gave my people money with one hand and took away my peoples dignity with the other"

Sorry, Keith, I was speaking from career civilain Fed employee POV. You're probably right about Barry redeploying Carter's "Taps" military and IMO military contractors will probably feel the bite. The deal the Fed employees have now (FERS), since Reagan, isn't nearly as solid as the old CSRS. I believe a FERS retiree gets 30% ave/hi/3yrs+SS+whatever you contribute to the ThriftSavingsPlan, matched up to 10% by gov. CSRS people don't pay into SS, so the credits I have now are for low paying jobs, I did before getting into the gov. I think I only need around another 4 yrs to qualify for SS, if I were to retire and get a job where I would start paying into SS. I'd get a reduction on SS, but I'd probably be paying in w/a much higher income than what the majority of my "contributions" were. I'd get a SS "reduction" but the payments to me would still be more than what I've paid in. Lets put it this way, I've gone to a couple of retirement seminars, and have been told by "experts" that I'll make out OK on SS (if it doesn't go bankrupt). My advice, if you can switch over, do it! At least long enough to get through the comming nightmare, or the 2012 "end of the world" whichever comes first.
Sorry, for hijacking the thread.

It's easy to spout that same old rhetoric but the reality is the recent right has created a "big brother" of monumental proportions.

Yeah sure.........lets watch what happens next to talk radio. Our fine senetor from Mich. wants to hold accountability now for this. To bad her whore loving husband failed miserably with Air America.;) Just more left propoganda.
