I would get the cheapest pos you can find. Once you start restoring, you will end up redoing everything anyway. My .02

Yar, Perhaps you could lead the St Pat's parade 1 time, and pretend to be drunk. Then strip/powdercoat or paint frame/swingarm/bits and swap engines. This would allow you the next year or so to shop, strip, build that green lump into all our envy. While it's heinous now, most of us have started w/projects which simple age and deterioration have required nearly as much effort to restore. Hell, if tank plastics and seat are presentible you might be OK. G

Hideous was my first impression and I have to agree that it looks like the Incredible Hulk edition.

That said once you get past the horrible paint job there look to be some good points about the bike. It looks to be a 77 or 78 KZ1000 A model with some nice upgrades. Looks to have a dual disc setup from an LTD added along with mag wheels. The side covers are aftermarket so if you can't get rid of the paint no great loss. I don't know what type of header is on there but if it comes with the original stock parts and the stock exhaust system is part of the package and in good shape that could be sold for some big bucks. It appears to have a new chain on it and the tires look to be fairly new as well. The seat looks to be perfect and it looks to have superbike bars already installed.

I'd budget $250.00 for powdercoating the frame and use this fact in the price negotiation. Although it will be a big mess, lots of aircraft stripper and a good powerwasher will likely get rid of all the green paint on the engine in short order.

As to value I'd have to say $1200.00 would be at the high end for me. How many miles is it supposed to have on it?

Wholly crapola.... I love Kawi green and all but whoa....

Your bud can look at it this way, lighten the load, take off all the reflectors, headlight, blinkers and tail light for this beauty will be seen miles away, day or night....

As for the headlight, won't be required due to other car light reflections off it... Shine green beams all over the place....

Come to think of it, I can't see where laser/radar will even pick this up! KZ stealth fighter....

Getting that paint off the motor is going to be a bitch!

Green kickstand, hmmm, why didn't I think of that... be able to find that in the dark....

Where are you located Jordan? I have a 77 1000 that will not make you ashamed to have it on the trailer. I would let the bike plus extra motor go for $1700

That thing looks like the not so jolly Green Giant yakked a mess of bile all over it.

I'd pass altogether.

Seriously, anyone who would inflict that kind of horrid abuse on such a beautiful classic is lacking something major. It is called common sense.

Why the sale anyway? Is the seller trying to fund a dayglo orange Camaro project?

Was probably the same guy in high school (every high school has at least one) with an old rust bucket car who does a quick afterschool engine dressup by hit-and-miss underhood cleaning (superficial wipedown) and then spray paints (or brushes) everything in sight with aluminum paint. :woohoo:

Guessing most everybody has enjoyed admiring one of these beauties.
