Some of you may know me through my 810cc streetfighter thread i have posted on the site, or you can just look at my signature and you can see that for the most part i have just small four kz's. For the last few years a friend has had a 1975 z1 that he got for just about nothing. He has tinkered with it here and there, but for the most part he is into harleys. I have always said that that bike will be mine some day. It hasnt ran for about a year since the coils were bad and he didnt want to buy new ones. I brought some from a 1000 over and in about 20 minutes it was good as new again. It seemed to run good, besides the fact that it had a definate smoke coming from the exhaust. It has 50,500 miles on the odometer but it still looks great. It is beginning to leak from just about everywhere and all around it is pretty worn out. But nothing was going to turn me away from this beauty. He let me take it for a spin, and once i got on the highway i cranked her open a few times. I was definately surprised by the old worn out kaw. First gear seemed alright, second gear was kinda disappointing, but once i got into third gear it pulled HARD all the way through fourth and i let off at fifth. I didnt realize that this old girl was gonna put such a smile on my face, and if it is this good now i want to know what it will be like freshened up with a good rebuild and some goodies. Now I knew i have to have it. I immediately began working deals and he said hes gonna sell it this spring and i got first dibs!

Tell him to sell it to you now. Why wait for spring. Tell him everything wrong with it and a few things that ain't. You need the winter to work and dream on her. Thats what friends are for!!!!;)

Your subject line says it all...

I can't wait till that day arrives. And like you, I'm sure I will be grinning like a S.O.B., just like when I was a kid and got my first bike a Suzuki 80.

Since your friend is into HD, he should give you a pretty good deal or better yet, just give you the bike. That's a true friend indeed.

Good for you Jordan, I'm envious... B)

The first bike I "paid" for was a 75 z1. I loved it. When it was down for repairs I borrowed a 650 and was surprised at the difference. I have never gone back to the smaller bikes.
