Well, I took Ace (KZ650C2) out for her inaugural highway run yesterday....finally. I put on over 200 miles of mostly 55- 65MPH speeds with some 70-75MPH (about 30 minutes worth in one stretch) for good measure. With me (165lb), a small bag on the rack, no windshield and stock gearing the mileage was.......ta da...just over 58MPIG. For US gallons knock that down by 20%.
The first tank went 278 kilometres (~173 miles) and hadn't hit reserve yet. Is that great er whut ???
I'm absolutely chuffed about the whole thing since my 1200 Bandit with a 20 litre tank gets about the same range. So now I've got TWO bikes capable of long distance riding, at least fuel capacity-wise.
The riding position wasn't bad but if I was going away for more than a day trip, I'd definitely want a windshield. I'm going to put one on for the fall riding season and I'll take her for another day trip over the same route to see what the windshield does to the fuel economy....if I can find the time AND the weather will cooperate.
